Summerland FARM
This project was a collaboration with DFJ Architects and included extensive upgrades to facilities and the creation of new park and café/entry zones at Summerland Farm.
The project was recognised with a number of industry awards.
AILA AWARD CITATIONS:
“The play space at Summerland Farm fits seamlessly into the broader landscape context of the Park and its regional setting. The play space uses exquisite materials and detailing, and focuses on non-prescriptive imagination-based play, leaving visitors with a very special experience. Play elements are woven around canopy trees, adding to the mystique and beauty of the play experience while providing shade and a connection to nature.”
“Every aspect of the design is underpinned by the continuation of the founding legacy of Summerland Farm as a place of inclusion, where people with a disability are central to the design and everyday operation. The expansion respects and enhances the setting with rural landscape cues, a restrained design, a special place for visitors, and a subtle and site-responsive palette of materials.”
